Join our Veterans Day Observance Ceremony on Monday, November 11 at 9:30 AM at the Town Green on Buckley Highway On Monday, November 11, the Town of Union will be holding a ceremony in honor of our veterans. The Union School students will be participating, along with other Town officials. The Union School will be serving refreshments following the ceremony. We hope to see you there. We thank all of our veterans for their service! Please help spread the word to our veterans so we can thank them for their service.

Union was the last town to be settled east of the Connecticut River, largely because of its rough terrain and poor soil. In 1633, John Oldham, an adventurer from Massachusetts, obtained specimens of black lead or graphite from the Indians. During the Revolutionary War Governor Trumbull tapped this valuable resource for use at cannon foundries. On July 1, 1720 the General Assembly sold 12,500 acres to 12 proprietors for 307 pounds, comprising the area that is now Union.
