Town Hall COVID-19 Update

March 17, 2020

Good morning,

The Board of Selectmen have discussed various options to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in our town.  Listed below are the current steps being taken as well as links to various, reliable sources of information regarding the virus and town services/contact information.  These actions are subject to change since this is an extremely fluid situation:

The Union Town Hall will remain open until further notice, but we are requesting that if your business can be conducted electronically or over the phone, please do so. If your business absolutely requires your presence at the Town Hall, please call the office you need to ensure it is staffed and to determine if your request can be obtained via mail or email.  If you have a specific need please contact our offices and we will assist you in any way we can.

Selectman’s Office: (860)684-3812,

Town Clerk’s Office: (860)684-3770,

Tax Collector: (860)684-8834,

Assessor: (860)684-5705,

Town Room Rentals – Rentals of the Town Room are currently suspended.  The Governor has banned gatherings of more than 50 people.  Since the Board of Selectmen have no control over the actual number of participants at a gathering, we believe this is a prudent move.  This action will also remove the necessity for the entire area (town room, kitchen, hallway and bathrooms) to be extensively cleaned and sanitized after a gathering.

Town Library – The library will be closed Wednesday, March 18, for a deep cleaning and then until further notice. For more information regarding the library you can visit their webpage (listed below under Resources), call (860-684-4913) or email (

As of now, the Union School is closed March 16 – March 27.

The Transfer Station will operate as normal, with the Swap Shed remaining closed.

The Town is working closely with the local Board of Health and State Agencies to keep updated on the latest information. We will continue to update you with any changes.
