Selectmen’s Meeting Minutes
May 15, 2017
First Selectman Goodhall called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
Attending: Selectmen – Albert L. Goodhall, Jr., Joseph Kratochvil, David Heck; Public Works Director David Eaton
Persons to be heard: Barry and Nancy Kapplan representing Bush Meadow Farm
Mr. and Mrs. Kapplan discussed the proposed cancellation by the Board of Selectmen of the town subsidy for a dumpster for their business. Following discussion, Selectman Heck made a motion to reinstate the Bush Meadow Farm subsidy for the Willimantic Waste Dumpster; motion was seconded by Selectman Kratochvil; Vote was 2 ayes, 1 opposed (Goodhall); motion was carried.
Minutes from the last meeting were read. Selectman Kratochvil moved to accept the minutes as read; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.
Bills were presented for review. Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills; motion was seconded by Selectman Kratochvil. Vote was unanimous.
Public Works Director Eaton reported that the Board of Finance is considering the overspending of the road maintenance expense account in the amount of $25,000 to cover the cost of culvert repairs on Kinney Hollow Road.
First Selectman Goodhall will be sending the ZREC Service Agreement for the solar installation to the town attorney for review.
There are currently vacancies on the Library Board and Board of Assessment Appeals.
The Town Meeting to vote on the proposed 2017-18 Budget will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 7:30 p.m.
There were several complaints regarding the blasting which took place on Wednesday, May 10. David Eaton, Zoning Enforcement Officer, will be addressing the issue at the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
Motion to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. by Selectman HeckHeck; seconded by Selectman Kratochvil. Vote was unanimous.
