Selectmen’s Meeting                       January 16, 2018                             Union, Connecticut

 

First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 35 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, Mary Huda, David Heck

 

Minutes from the January 2, 2018 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

 

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.

 

Correspondence: Review of emails regarding Animal Control.

                                    Letter from Town of Coventry regarding the DOH grant for crumbling foundation

                                    testing. The Grant has been approved and the Town will be notified of procedure

                                    for application.

 

The Board reviewed and discussed Connecticut General Statutes regarding handling of dogs. It was agreed to request that the Animal Control Officer attend the February 5, 2018 Selectmen’s Meeting to present a written town policy regarding the pound and retention of animals, as well as dog bite protocol.

 

Following brief discussion of the Neglected Cemetery Grant Award, Selectman Heck moved for the adoption of the following resolution:

                Be it resolved that the Board of Selectmen authorize First Selectman David D. Eaton to

                administer the Neglected Cemeteries Grant, awarded to the Town of Union in March, 2017,        replacing former First Selectman Albert L. Goodhall, Jr..

Motion was seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.

 

The 2018-2019 Proposed Selectmen’s Budget was finalized and submitted to the Board of Finance.

 

Motion to adjourn at 8:11 p.m. by Selectman Huda; seconded by Selectman Heck.  Vote was unanimous.
