Selectmen’s Meeting February 5, 2018 Union, Connecticut
First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m.
Attending: Selectmen – David D. Eaton, Mary Huda, David Heck
Minutes from the January 16, 2018 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.
Bills were presented for review. Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.
Correspondence: Letter of appreciation from a resident regarding the implementation of a road sign at Stickney Hill and Buckley Highway warning drivers that traffic from the right does not stop.
The Town Treasurer presented a revision to the Town Payroll Policy regarding Direct Deposit. Following discussion, the Treasurer will make further changes and present the amended policy at the February 20 meeting.
The Board discussed Old Home Day, held annually in August. Selectman Heck made the motion to appoint Karen Calabrese to serve on the Old Home Day Committee. Motion was seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.
The Animal Control Officer was unable to attend the meeting. First Selectman Eaton met with the ACO on January 31. Written town policies regarding Dog Pound and Dog Bite protocol will be presented by the ACO at the February 20 meeting. The handling of the dog currently in the pound has been extended to February 28, 2018.
The 2018 Federal Holidays to be observed by the Town Hall are Wednesday, July 4, Thursday, November 22 and Tuesday December 25. The Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.
Possible LoCIP projects were discussed as follows: Town Hall Parking Lot resealed and new lines painted
PW Garage Doors replaced
The floor at the Town Pavilion painted
Secondary lighting for Community Room
These projects are contingent on the entitlement to be awarded March 1, 2018.
A Public Works part time maintainer position has been posted on the town website and board.
The DOH Grant for Crumbling Foundations testing reimbursement has been approved. Application packets were sent to residents who signed up for information. More information is posted on the town website.
Motion to adjourn at 8:35 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.
