Selectmen’s Meeting                       April 2, 2018                         Union, Connecticut

 

First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, Mary Huda, David Heck

 

Minutes from the March 19, 2018 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by First Selectman Eaton. Vote was unanimous.

 

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.

 

First Selectman Eaton discussed legal notice requirements for Town Meetings. Connecticut State Statutes require that notice be posted in a newspaper with circulation in town. The Hartford Courant is the newspaper currently required by Town Ordinance. Notices for Town Meetings will also continue to be placed on the Transfer Station Notice Board, Library Notice Board, the town website and a town email. This is the last year notices will be mailed to Union residents with an Eastford zip code. They will receive a letter with the Town Meeting notice stating that they can sign up for town emails to be notified directly in the future.

 

The LoCIP applications for the following projects have been approved:

  1. Town Pavilion Improvements, cleaning and painting floor
  2. Garage Doors for Public Works Garage
  3. Town Hall Parking Lot Improvement, re-sealing and painting lines
  4. Town Community Room Lighting Improvements

First Selectman Eaton may be able to include painting the lines on the library parking lot as well.

 

Following review and discussion of the proposed 2018-2019 Selectmen’s Budget, Selectman Huda made a motion to reduce the following three line items, as proposed by First Selectman Eaton:

 

Expense Acct. 3110-400, Building & Grounds Maintenance & Repair, reduced by $1,000 to $16,000

Expense Acct. 3120-120 Transfer Station Salary, reduced by $1,000 to $25,228

Expense Acct. 313-630 Medical Insurance, reduced by $6,123 to $40,000

 

Motion seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

 

The Board of Selectmen will recommend the following line item changes to the Board of Finance:

Income

1110-940 Health Insurance – remove this line item

3130-951 Transportation Infrastructure to “Town Aid Road”

7100-955 Telephone Access Line Grant to “Telecommunications Revenue”

Expense

1110-131 Selectmen’s Clerk 2 Salary – remove this line item

1120-230 Assessor Data Processing to “Assessor Software Maintenance”

1130-230 Data Processing to “Tax Collector Software Maintenance”

4110-200 Emergency Medical to “911 Dispatch Service”

 

Motion to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.
