Selectmen’s Meeting                       July 2, 2018                           Union, Connecticut

 

First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck, Mary Huda

 

Minutes from the June 18, 2018 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

 

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.

 

Correspondence:             NECCOG letter regarding shared social services/veteran’s services

 

Following discussion, Selectman Heck made a motion that the Town participate in the Regional Human Services/Veteran’s Advocate Program at NECCOG (Northeast Connecticut Council of Governments) for a fee of $546.00 annually; seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.

 

Revisions to the Town Community Room and Pavilion rental policy were reviewed and discussed. First Selectman Eaton made a motion to increase the rental fees of the Community Room/Kitchen and the Town Pavilion to $50.00, effective immediately; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

 

The Selectman’s Office will follow up on the town’s liability coverage and the possibility that renters of the town property be required to provide personal insurance coverage as well.

 

A packet of information regarding recycling policies and appropriate materials will be distributed at the Transfer Station beginning July 7.

 

First Selectman Eaton discussed the town’s purchase of LED replacement ballasts for office lighting, requesting bulk purchase to lower the cost per light. The Board approved the bulk lighting purchase.

 

The Board discussed the mileage reimbursement rate for Town Departments. Notices will go out to all departments that effective immediately the 2018 IRS mileage rate is 54.5 cents per mile.

 

Selectman Huda addressed the Town procedure for electronic archiving of emails and documents. The Selectman’s office will follow up with Cox Business, which provides internet and email service, regarding archive provision.

 

The Crumbling Foundation issue and the State reimbursement program was discussed.

 

Motion to adjourn at 9:00 p.m. by Selectman Huda; seconded by Selectman Heck.  Vote was unanimous.
