Selectmen’s Meeting July 16, 2018 Union, Connecticut
First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m.
Attending: Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck; Absent: Mary Huda
Minutes from the July 2, 2018 meeting were read. Selectman Heck made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by First Selectman Eaton. Vote was unanimous.
Bills were presented for review. Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by First Selectman Eaton. Vote was unanimous.
Correspondence: Email from the Town insurance company regarding liability insurance for residents renting the Community Room and Town Pavilion.
Email from NECCOG regarding the Crumbling Foundations June report for residents applying for assistance.
First Selectman Eaton discussed the Town application for the Neglected Cemetery Grant for 2019. Following discussion Selectman Heck made a motion to approve the following resolution:
“RESOLVED that the Board of Selectmen authorize First Selectman David D. Eaton to apply for and accept, on behalf of the Town of Union, a grant from the Neglected Cemetery Account; and FURTHER RESOLVED that First Selectman Eaton is authorized to enter into and execute any and all agreements, contracts and documents necessary to obtain said grant should the Town of Union be selected for a grant award.”
The motion was seconded by First Selectman Eaton. Vote was unanimous.
The Board discussed Old Home Day being held August 18, 2018. There will be a table for the Selectmen’s Office with information about the Town Boards and Commissions.
More specific information for the NECCOG program for Veterans and Social Services was reviewed.
Following discussion, the Board approved disposal of the old piano in the Community Room.
Selectman Heck inquired about the possibility of putting up a railing at the steps up into Center Cemetery. First Selectman Eaton will discuss this with the Sexton and Cemetery Committee.
Town policy regarding personal insurance for Community Room and Grove rental, Animal Control Policy and Town Sexual Harassment Policy will be further addressed at the August 6 meeting.
Motion to adjourn at 9:00 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by First Selectman Eaton. Vote was unanimous.
