Connecticut Cancer Foundation

                        The Connecticut Cancer Foundation

The Connecticut Cancer Foundation (formerly the Connecticut Sports Foundation Against Cancer) was founded in 1987 by former Yankee John Ellis to provide financial assistance to CT cancer patients and their families and to fund cancer research. John lost a brother, sister, and sister-in-law to cancer, all before the age of 40. John was then diagnosed with Hogkins Lymphoma at the age of 39. John made a promise that, if he survived, he would move back to his home state of Connecticut and start a foundation to financially assist cancer patients. Fortunately, John beat his cancer and is cancer-free today. He kept his promise and CCF was born. During the past 31 years, CCF has provided over $5 million in financial aid to CT cancer patients and their families and has funded over $1.9 million in lymphoma research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

CCF operates under the meticulous guidance of Jane G. Ellis, Executive Director and President of the organization. CCF is overseen by a 5-member, volunteer Board of Directors, and 14-member, volunteer Advisory Board. CCF has been audited for 30 years by independent accounting firms and is presently audited by Caposella, Cohen, LLC. Financial documents are available on request.

No Shave November

This November, police departments across Connecticut will be participating in "No Shave November." Starting on November 1, 2018, police officers can volunteer to put their razors away for 30 days. During this time, friends, families, and members of the community can go online and make donations to sponsor participating police departments from Ansonia, Farmington, East Hartford, Guilford, Naugatuck, and Ledyard, with more to be announced!

At the end of No Shave November, we give 100% of the funds raised at the No Shave November directly to Connecticut cancer patients!

No Shave November also has an Ambassador, who is the "face" of the event. The Ambassador’s family is then eligible for a large grant based on the dollar amount the event raises. The remaining sum is dispersed to cancer patients throughout Connecticut through our CT Cancer Patient Assistance Fund. Please contact Terri at for details regarding department participation and donations.

Meet the 2018 Ambassador for No Shave November

Meet Wesley! Wesley is fifteen years old and, like most kids his age, loves gaming, riding his bike, and eating pepperoni pizza! He also loves photography – the picture to the left is a self-portrait entitled, "Looking to a Bright Future." Unfortunately, Wesley has been battling Ewing’s sarcoma for three years. Cancer is tough, but Wesley is tougher, and he is an inspiration to everyone who knows him! Supporting No Shave November is a great way to help Wesley and hundreds of other people bravely battling cancer.
