Selectmen’s Meeting                               January 7, 2019                            Union, Connecticut

 

 

First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck, Mary Huda

 

Minutes from the December 17, 2018 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as amended; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

 

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.

 

Correspondence:  Email correspondence regarding Animal Control incident and reporting was discussed.

 

A letter from Representative Pat Boyd regarding his appointment to the Veteran Affairs Committee was discussed.

 

A Special Meeting of the Selectmen will be held Wednesday, January 9, with a representative from Yale University regarding Yale Forest and tax payments.

 

Town Democrat Registrar, Joshua Lambert, attended the meeting to discuss budgeting and disbursing poll workers’ pay through the Registrar Expense Account rather than Town Payroll. Following discussion, the Board of Selectmen recommended that payment to poll workers be budgeted as Special Workers Pay in the Registrar Expense Account 1150-200. Mr. Lambert will work out a proposed plan and budget for 2019-2020.

 

Following final review and discussion, Selectman Heck made a motion to approve the Selectmen’s Proposed 2019-2020 Budget for submission to the Board of Finance. Motion was seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.

The Public Works Proposed 2019-2020 Budget was also reviewed and approved by the Board to submit to the Board of Finance.

 

The Captive Insurance crumbling foundation replacement assistance applications will be accepted beginning January 10, 2019.

 

The Board will begin work on developing the Town of Union Animal Control Policy.

 

Further discussion was held regarding possible replacement of the dump truck.

 

Motion to adjourn at 8:47 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.
