Selectmen’s Meeting                               February 4, 2019                          Union, Connecticut

 

 

First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 40 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck

 

Minutes from the January 22, 2019 meeting were read. Selectman Heck made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by First Selectman Eaton. Vote was unanimous.

 

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by First Selectman Eaton.  Vote was unanimous.

 

Correspondence:  CCM (Connecticut Conference of Municipalities) email regarding Senate Bill 454, An Act Concerning the Creation of Regional School Districts. The proposed legislation “marks the beginning of the legislative process. Many more conversations, public debate and deliberations are to come.” CCM does not support this bill but is encouraging municipal dialogue, recognizing needs in long-term sustainability of the education system.

 

First Selectman Eaton attended the Legislative Breakfast at Johnson Memorial Hospital on January 31.

 

A proposal to convert Town Hall lighting to LED was discussed. The proposal to lock in the incentive rate was signed by First Selectman Eaton, pending final approval by the Board of Selectmen. The conversion is cash positive, reducing monthly expense and energy usage.

 

Work on Animal Control Policy is tabled for the next meeting.

 

Motion to adjourn at 8:15 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by First Selectman Eaton.  Vote was unanimous.
