Selectmen’s Meeting                                      January 6, 2020                        Union, Connecticut

 

 First Selectman Eaton called the meeting to order at 7: 30 p.m.

 

Attending:  Selectmen – David D. Eaton, David Heck, Mary Huda

 

Persons to be Heard:  None

 

Minutes from the December 16, 2019 meeting were read. Selectman Huda made a motion to accept the minutes as read; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

 

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; seconded by Selectman Huda.  Vote was unanimous.

               

Correspondence:  Letter from the town Auditor, O’Connor Davies, regarding management. It was deemed that a close-out meeting was not necessary.

                                       Request from SECCAC (Sexual Assault Crisis Center of Eastern Connecticut) for annual contribution consideration for the Town budget for 2020-2021.

First Selectman Eaton made a motion to increase the contribution to Sexual Assault Crisis Account 4150-200 in the proposed 2020-2021 budget from $200 to $300. Motion seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

                                       Article emailed from J. Upson from the Journal Inquirer regarding the State’s population decline.

 

New Business:

 

The Board discussed the Animal Control Program offered by NECCOG. The cost would be $2,646 per year.  

First Selectman Eaton will notify the Animal Control Officer that the Board of Selectmen is looking into animal control services with NECCOG. The First Selectman will also follow up with NECCOG to get information about response time and ‘no kill’ policy.   

 

Old Business:

 

The Board reviewed information and questions from Selectman Heck regarding setting up a Selectmen’s Working Budget spreadsheet, including the two previous years’ accounting with what was budgeted and what was spent. Selectman Heck will work on a draft of the spreadsheet.

 

Motion to adjourn at 8:27 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Huda. Vote was unanimous.
