Selectmen's Meeting             September 6, 2016              Union, Connecticut

  

First Selectman Goodhall called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

Attending:  Selectmen - Albert L. Goodhall, Jr., Joseph Kratochvil, David Heck; David Eaton, Public Works Director; Tom Eames; Christine Jones, Tree Warden Applicant

Minutes from the last meeting were read. Selectman Heck moved to accept the minutes as read; seconded by Selectman Kratochvil. Vote was unanimous.

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Kratochvil made the motion to pay the bills as presented; motion was seconded by Selectman Heck.  Vote was unanimous.

Mr. Eames inquired about the interest rate on the USDA loan for the school building, and the possibility of getting a lower rate. He also inquired about the Town Policy and/or Procedure regarding Teacher Contracts. The Selectmen's Office will look into this.

Christine Jones applied for the position of Tree Warden for the Town of Union. Following discussion with Ms. Jones, First Selectman Goodhall made the motion to appoint Christine Jones as Interim Tree Warden until June 30, 2017; motion was seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

The Board discussed the OSHA report from the September 3 Inspection. The Board advised paying the $500 fine, foregoing any appeal to reduce that amount. This will be submitted with the bills in the September 19 meeting for final approval.

The RFP for the Library lighting project has been submitted to the Courant, Courant Community, and posted on the Town website. The bids will be opened at the September 19 meeting.

Public Works Director Eaton reported that a light at the Transfer Station is in need of repair. The Board approved his request to replace the light with LED lighting at the time repairs are made.

Motion to adjourn at 8:50 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Kratochvil.   Vote was unanimous.
