Selectmen's Meeting                 August 15, 2016             Union, Connecticut

 

First Selectman Goodhall called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.

Attending:  Selectmen - Albert L. Goodhall, Jr., Joseph Kratochvil, David Heck; David Eaton, Public Works Director; Tom and Joan Eames

Minutes from the last meeting were read. Selectman Kratochvil moved to accept the minutes as read; seconded by Selectman Heck. Vote was unanimous.

Bills were presented for review.  Selectman Heck made the motion to pay the bills as presented; motion was seconded by Selectman Kratochvil.  Vote was unanimous.

Mr. and Mrs. Eames commented on the wonderful service at the Union Free Public Library and expressed their appreciation for the Library employees, Cailin Rae and Donna Jellen.

The Library LoCIP renovation project was discussed. John Bosse is completing the painting. The ceiling lighting is installed and the library will be presentable for the Open House at Old Home Day on Saturday. Phase 2 of the lighting portion of the project, the tech lighting, will be sent out to bid, as the project is estimated to be over $5,000. 

The Milfoil Grant for Mashapaug Lake was briefly discussed. Attempts to control through drawdowns have been ineffective thus far.

An OSHA inspection of all town buildings took place on August 3. The inspection went very well, with only a few minor changes needed. Thanks to Public Works Director, David Eaton, for his diligence and upkeep of our town facilities.

The possibility of solar installation at the school and town hall was briefly discussed. The Board of Education met with Ross Solar Group representative, Stephan Hartmann. First Selectman Goodhall will follow up with Mr. Hartmann to discuss the next steps of this potential solar project.

Motion to adjourn at 8:02 p.m. by Selectman Heck; seconded by Selectman Kratochvil.   Vote was unanimous.
